Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, our driver will be ready to greet you after immigration and customs. The journey to Moshi takes approximately 45 minutes, while the drive to Arusha city takes about an hour without traffic. You’ll have a trek orientation with your Kilimanjaro guide and an opportunity to rent any necessary equipment for your trek. Any excess luggage not needed for the trek can be securely stored at your hotel.
If time permits, we recommend an extra rest day before beginning your trek.

Day 2: Drive to Lemosho Gate, Hike to Big Tree Camp
Your adventure begins with a morning drive to the Lemosho Gate, where you’ll register with the national park authorities. The trek commences through lush rainforests, offering a glimpse of the incredible journey ahead. Today’s walk is relatively short, around 2.5 hours, leading you to the enchanting Big Tree Camp at 2780 m.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp (2780 m) – Shira 1 Camp (3505 m)
After breakfast, you’ll follow a slender trail through the rainforest before entering the moorland. The landscape transforms, with Erica and Lobelia plants dominating the scenery. You’ll camp on the Shira Plateau on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 4: Shira Camp 1 (3505 m) – Shira Camp 2 (3900 m)
Today you will continue along the Shira Plateau, trekking through rock formations, across volcanic rock plateaus. You will cross Shira Cathedral, one of the three peaks of Kilimanjaro.

Day 5: Shira Camp 2 (3900) – Lava Tower (4630) – Barranco Camp (3976)
Following breakfast, your journey leads to Lava Tower, with a significant altitude gain of approximately 740 m. You’ll enjoy a rest here before descending, providing your body with valuable acclimatization experience. The landscape transforms once more as you pass through the Barranco Valley, featuring impressive Senecio and smaller Lobelia plants. After 6-7 hours of trekking, you’ll reach your beautiful overnight camp, Barranco Camp.

Day 6: Barranco Camp (3960 m) - Via Karanga Camp (4035) - Barafu Camp (4640 m)
Today’s destination is Barafu Camp, situated at 4640 m. This morning, you’ll tackle the famous Barranco Wall, one of the steepest sections of the route. Your guides will ensure a safe ascent, and while you may use your hands for balance, there are no technical climbing elements. Once atop, you’ll traverse the mountain ridge, potentially offering stunning views of Kibo’s southern glacier and summit. After 3-4 hours, you’ll reach Karanga Camp at 4035 m for the lunch break. After lunch break hike through the afro-alpine desert. Upon arrival, enjoy an early dinner and prepare for the exciting summit climb tomorrow.

Day 7: Barafu Camp (4640 m) – Uhuru Peak (5895 m) – Mweka Hut (3080 m)
Your day starts at 00:00 with hot tea and biscuits before embarking on a 5–7 hour ascent to Stella Point, the crater rim of Kilimanjaro. From there, it’s another 1-2 hours to reach the highlight of your journey, Uhuru Peak at 5895 m. Watch the sunrise over Africa from this breathtaking vantage point. After capturing memories and photos, descend to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved rest. Later, continue to Mweka Hut (3080 m), a 3–4-hour walk. Enjoy your evening, savoring a hearty meal and a good night’s sleep.

After breakfast and a farewell ceremony with your mountain guides, embark on a 2-3 hour walk through the rainforest back to Mweka Gate. Our driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and reflect on the past few days’ adventures.
