Your adventure begins as you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). After collecting your luggage and clearing customs, our friendly driver will be waiting to escort you to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, we can arrange an additional excursion such as a city tour, coffee plantation tour, bike ride, visit to Lake Duluti, or a half-day game viewing experience in Arusha National Park. Dinner is included at the lodge, providing the perfect opportunity to unwind in the expansive gardens and take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. Amid lush vegetation, you can even visit the neighboring coffee estate to prepare for your early wake-up call tomorrow.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and meet your private driver. You’ll have a private vehicle at your disposal for the next few days as you venture into the captivating Chem Chem Concession within Tarangire. Embrace a slower pace of life, inviting a deep connection with the wildlife and nature surrounding you, transcending the confines of a vehicle. The transfer to the lodge takes about 2.5 hours, allowing you to settle in before embarking on the afternoon game activity. Engage with your guide to plan your days at Chem Chem Lodge, nestled between watering holes, savannah grasslands, and an expansive salt pan. Here, the sense of space is only rivaled by the privacy and sophistication of your accommodations.
Following breakfast, you’ll be greeted by our safari guide, who will be your companion for the next few days. Drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a few hours of captivating game viewing, pausing for a light picnic lunch. This park offers a wilderness experience across diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides.
The shores of the lake, adorned with pink flamingos, attract over 400 bird species depending on the season. Besides the formidable predators, you may encounter buffalo herds, Masai giraffes, and impalas along the lake shores and forested valley slopes. Exit the park and continue to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, where your camp awaits. Dinner at the camp is a delightful conclusion to the day. “Entamanu,” meaning ‘circle’ in Maa, the Maasai language, perfectly captures the essence of this luxurious camp perched on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Today calls for an early start as you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, granting you a couple of hours for exceptional game viewing before the crowds arrive. The Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as Africa’s “eighth wonder of the world” and “Africa’s Eden,” is a stunning natural wonder. Formed 2.5 million years ago after an extinct volcano collapsed upon itself, this caldera is the largest of its kind globally. Here, you’ll have the best opportunity to spot the Big Five and indulge in a packed picnic-style lunch before returning to camp.
Return to Manyara today and bid farewell to your safari guide before your flight to the Mwiba Airstrip. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to the lodge, located in the Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, a conservation concession dedicated to the harmonious coexistence of wildlife and communities. This exclusive area welcomes only a limited number of guests, ensuring an uncrowded and intimate safari experience within the greater Serengeti eco-system. Your days will be spent game viewing in the area with your private vehicle; chat with your guide to customize your days as you prefer. The area is an excellent location all year long, but becomes especially rewarding during the months of January to March when the Migrating Herds are typically in the area (calving is usually in February).
Back at the lodge, relax in the secluded, sophisticated haven set among massive stone boulders, ancient coral trees, and acacias, overlooking a rocky gorge; spend time at the lounge and lower deck with an infinity-edge pool that overlooks three springs where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of a constant parade of wildlife.
